Havells Eyes Rapid Growth in the Energy Storage Sector

Havells India entered the battery energy storage segment through a strategic collaboration with Norway-based Pixii AS. The partnership aims to develop and deploy advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for residential, commercial and industrial applications across India. The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of the Norwegian Ambassador to India and senior representatives from the Embassy of Norway, Havells India and Pixii AS. Through the collaboration, Havells will contribute its manufacturing capabilities, distribution network and market reach, while Pixii will provide its expertise in battery energy storage technology.

Phased Plan to Build Local Energy Storage Ecosystem

The two companies have outlined a phased roadmap to create a long-term battery energy storage ecosystem in India. Initially, they will focus on pilot installations to evaluate market requirements and validate commercial opportunities. Subsequently, the partnership will move towards the co-development of integrated energy storage solutions tailored for Indian customers. Over time, the collaboration aims to establish local manufacturing capabilities and develop products specifically designed for Indian operating conditions and customer needs.

Havells Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio

Reshu Madan, SBU Head – Renewables at Havells India, said the partnership brings global energy storage innovation to India as the country accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy systems. Aseem Goyal, BU Head – Renewables, added that the collaboration strengthens Havells’ commitment to expanding its energy solutions portfolio while supporting localisation and sustainability objectives.

Pixii Sees India as Major Growth Market

Thomas Ingebretsen, CEO of Pixii AS, described India as one of the world’s most significant growth markets for energy storage. He noted that the partnership combines Pixii’s technology with Havells’ manufacturing strength, market expertise and customer reach, creating a strong platform for future expansion. The partnership comes at a time when India’s battery energy storage market is expanding rapidly due to increasing renewable energy deployment and growing demand for reliable power infrastructure.

Focus on Local Innovation and Manufacturing

Through the partnership, Havells and Pixii plan to introduce proven energy storage technologies while encouraging local innovation, localisation and manufacturing.
