Expansion of Manufacturing Footprint

Vikram Solar is already expanding its manufacturing presence in Tamil Nadu. The company is developing solar module manufacturing facilities at Vallam and Oragadam in Kanchipuram district. Furthermore, it is building an integrated solar module and cell manufacturing park at Gangaikondan. Earlier this week, the company rolled out the first solar module produced at the Gangaikondan facility, marking an important milestone in the project’s development.

BESS Capacity Target of 15 GWh by FY30

The proposed BESS facility forms part of Vikram Solar’s broader strategy to achieve 15 GW-hours of battery energy storage manufacturing capacity by FY30. As India accelerates renewable energy deployment and grid modernisation, the company expects battery storage to play a critical role in balancing power supply, improving grid reliability and supporting the integration of solar and wind energy.

Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Goals

Through this investment, Vikram Solar aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities in battery energy storage and solar equipment while contributing to India’s growing demand for grid-scale energy storage solutions. As reported by projectstoday.ai, the project is expected to support both renewable energy expansion and energy transition objectives, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a key manufacturing hub for clean energy technologies.
