India and Saudi Arabia inked a deal aimed at establishing a sustainable green hydrogen supply chain and fostering collaboration in the realm of power grid interconnection. The signing of the agreement took place in Riyadh during the MENA Climate Week 2023, with the union minister for power and new and renewable energy, RK Singh, representing India and the Saudi minister of energy, Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, representing Saudi Arabia.

The agreement follows closely on the heels of a bilateral agreement reached between the two nations approximately one month ago, covering various aspects of energy cooperation, such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, grid connectivity, strategic petroleum reserves, and energy security.

As reported by mint, with nearly 17% of the global population and ranking as the world’s fifth-largest economy, India is actively pursuing substantial measures to decrease the emission intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030. Furthermore, India is committed to achieving the ambitious objective of reaching Net Zero emissions by the year 2070.
