Resistance materials player Kanthal inaugurated a state-of-the-art wire manufacturing facility at its Hosur plant in India, aiming to optimize production capacity globally and offer shorter lead times across Asia. The expansion supports growth in emerging local markets while enhancing operational efficiency through increased automation.
Tripling Production Capacity in Hosur
The new 1,980 square meter facility will more than triple Kanthal’s wire production capacity at the Hosur plant. Since its establishment in 1931, Kanthal has been a world-leading supplier of industrial heating technology and resistance materials, with fine dimension wire as one of its core offerings. This expansion enables Kanthal to serve domestic markets in India as well as Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Korea, Japan, and China, along with selected parts of Europe. Customers will benefit from significantly faster lead times and lower minimum order quantities.
Strategic Investment for Market Growth

Strengthening Kanthal’s Presence in India
Kanthal first established operations in Hosur in 1988, and over the decades, India has grown to become one of Kanthal’s key geographical markets. The Hosur facility has continually increased in strategic importance, now hosting this advanced production line designed to deliver high-quality wire products for a global customer base.
Advanced Automation and Industry 4.0 Readiness
The new production line incorporates cutting-edge automated processes to enable end-to-end manufacturing, including high-quality appliance wire production, advanced die maintenance, and fully automated spooling operations.
Integration of state-of-the-art quality control and material handling systems ensures Kanthal can meet global demand for automated spooling solutions. Additionally, the facility lays the groundwork for Industry 4.0-level process control and data integration, ensuring scalability and alignment with next-generation manufacturing standards.
