Toyo Engineering Corp. (Tokyo) announced that its proprietary urea granulation technology has been selected for Kazakhstan’s first-ever urea plant, planned by KazAzot Prime LLP, a leading chemical fertilizer manufacturer. This selection marks a major step forward in the country’s drive to expand domestic fertilizer production.

TOYO’s Role and Technology Scope

Under the project, TOYO will act as the licensor of its advanced urea granulation technology. The company will provide a complete technology license, a detailed Process Design Package (PDP)*, key equipment procurement, and essential technical services. These contributions will ensure that the plant operates with high efficiency and reliability from the start.

EPC Partner and Global Experience

Wuhuan Engineering Co., Ltd., a major Chinese engineering firm, will execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work. TOYO’s strong global track record—spanning more than 100 urea technology licenses and plant construction projects—significantly influenced this partnership. Moreover, the company’s previous successful collaborations with Wuhuan helped strengthen confidence in its capabilities, further supporting the final selection.

A Milestone for Kazakhstan’s Fertilizer Industry

As reported by chemengonline.com, the new facility represents a historic milestone as Kazakhstan’s first urea production plant. Once operational, it will supply high-quality urea primarily for agricultural fertilizer applications, supporting the nation’s growing farming sector and reducing reliance on imports.
