L&T Energy Green Tech Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has sbagged a contract to develop India’s largest green hydrogen plant at Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOCL) Panipat Refinery in Haryana.
10,000 Ton Annual Supply for IOCL
The plant, set up on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis, will deliver 10,000 tons of green hydrogen annually to IOCL for 25 years. The facility will run entirely on renewable energy. It supports IOCL’s strategy to decarbonise refining and advance India’s Green Hydrogen Mission.
Cutting-Edge Electrolyser Technology
Green hydrogen will be produced using high-pressure alkaline electrolysers manufactured at L&T Electrolysers’ state-of-the-art facility in Hazira, Gujarat. Continuous, round-the-clock operation will ensure a steady supply of green hydrogen, further strengthening India’s energy security and sustainability goals.
Strengthening India’s Energy Transition
As reported by projectstday.com, the project represents a major milestone in India’s clean energy roadmap and reaffirms L&T’s position as a leader in developing scalable green energy infrastructure. Commenting on the project, Subramaniam Sarma, Deputy Managing Director and President, L&T, said, “The decision to set up India’s maiden green hydrogen plant validates our strategy to lead the nation’s energy transition. We are proud to lay the foundation for cleaner industrial processes at scale.”
