Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a city gas distribution company, introduced Mahanagar LNG Private Limited, a collaborative venture with Baidyanath LNG Private Limited, in establishing LNG retail outlets in the country.

The aim of the collaboration is to develop LNG infrastructure, specifically targeting the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy solutions in long-haul and close-loop transportation segments. This initiative aims to contribute to the decarbonisation of the trucking industry.

The partnership between the two companies is geared towards assisting long-haul heavy-duty vehicles in transitioning from diesel to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The strategic shift is expected to reduce carbon emissions and enhance fuel efficiency. As reported by Energetica India, in an expansion into related areas, the joint venture plans to establish six LNG stations in Maharashtra during the initial phase and subsequently broaden its presence nationwide.
