Michelin has invested ₹686 crore in its Chennai car tyre manufacturing facility, adding to the ₹2,800 crore spent on establishing the plant, which was inaugurated in 2009. The expansion marks a significant step in localizing production and strengthening Michelin’s presence in the Indian market.
Made-in-India Tyres for Passenger Vehicles
The upgraded facility will manufacture 16- to 22-inch tyres across several premium ranges, including LTX Trail ST, Pilot Sport 4 SUV, Pilot Sport 5, and Primacy 5. Michelin now makes all these tyres in India, serving both domestic and export markets while maintaining high-quality standards that reflect its global reputation.
