In a strategic step toward combating India’s growing urban waste challenge, Netel India Limited, a Neterwala Group company, and Organic Recycling Systems Limited (ORS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and implement solid waste management and waste-to-energy projects across the country.
Focus on Scalable, Integrated Waste Valorisation
The partnership aims to create scalable and sustainable solutions, focusing particularly on Compressed Biogas (CBG) generation, under both Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) models. The collaboration emphasizes integrated waste valorisation. It combines technical expertise and financial strength to address the full value chain—from organic waste processing to energy recovery.
Complementary Strengths for Execution and Financing
Under the terms of the MoU:
*ORS will lead the engineering and technical execution of projects, particularly those involving organic waste processing and CBG production.
*Netel India will handle project financing and take responsibility for components related to Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) to energy conversion.
The collaboration also includes operations and maintenance (O&M) services, ensuring long-term performance and reliability of the implemented systems.
Upgrading Existing Facilities with Biogas Innovation
Beyond new projects, the alliance will explore the retrofit and upgrade of Netel India’s existing environmental facilities using ORS’s advanced biogas technologies. These upgrades aim to enhance both environmental compliance and operational efficiency, aligning with India’s sustainability goals.
Leaders Highlight Strategic Importance of the MoU
Yashas Bhand, CEO and Whole-Time Director, Organic Recycling Systems, emphasized, “This MoU reflects our belief in the power of strategic collaboration to solve India’s most pressing environmental challenges. Netel India brings complementary strengths, and we are confident this partnership will unlock new opportunities for innovation, scale, and impact.”
Rajesh Saigal, Group President, Engineering Businesses, Neterwala Group, said, “With India facing mounting pressure to improve its waste management systems and meet renewable energy targets, collaborations like this offer a promising avenue for scalable and sustainable waste solutions that blend technical innovation with strong execution capability.”
A Step Forward for Urban Sustainability
As India works to meet its renewable energy commitments and tackle the mounting solid waste burden in urban centers. This partnership between Netel India and ORS represents a forward-thinking alliance. As per the press release, the collaboration brings together technological innovation, financial strength, and on-ground execution expertise. Together, these elements set a strong foundation for next-generation waste-to-energy infrastructure in the country.
