netiBIO, the bioenergy division of STEER World, received the ‘Breakthrough Technology to Pre-Condition Biomass and Agri Residue for Value Creation in Bioenergy and Biofuels’ award at the 5th BBB International Expo and Summit 2026. The award recognizes netiBIO’s innovative contribution to improving biomass utilization and enhancing the efficiency of India’s rapidly growing Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector.
Addressing a Key Challenge in CBG Production
One of the major challenges facing CBG plant operators is the effective processing of biomass and agricultural residue feedstocks before anaerobic digestion. Poor feedstock digestibility often limits biogas production and impacts plant economics. To overcome this challenge, netiBIO has developed an advanced biomass pre-treatment technology that improves feedstock digestibility and conversion efficiency. By optimizing biomass structure before digestion, the technology helps increase the availability of organic material for microbial breakdown, thereby enhancing biogas generation. Under suitable operating conditions, the solution has demonstrated the potential to improve biogas yields by up to 2.1 times, making it a valuable innovation for improving the operational performance and profitability of CBG plants.

Nitin Gupta, Executive Director and Global CEO of STEER World, said that improving biogas yields from existing biomass and agricultural residues is one of the most practical ways to strengthen the economics of India’s CBG industry. He noted that the recognition validates the company’s efforts to develop pre-treatment technologies that are not only technically robust but also scalable and easy to deploy in real-world operating environments. Organized by the Indian Biogas Association in partnership with Indus Exposium and Reveille Energy, the event receives support from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
