Nouryon, a global player in specialty chemicals, has launched its Innovation Center for oilfield applications in Houston, Texas, USA. This strategic move reinforces Nouryon’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable chemical solutions that meet the evolving needs of the oilfield industry in North America.
Focus on Sustainable R&D and Customer Collaboration
The Innovation Center will serve as a hub for research and development in sustainable drilling, completion, production, and stimulation processes. It will also offer a venue for workshops and training sessions. These sessions will enable close collaboration with customers to tailor solutions that improve operational efficiency and environmental performance.

First of Its Kind in Houston
The facility marks Nouryon’s first Innovation Center in Houston—a significant step in expanding the company’s technical capabilities and market presence in the oilfield sector. The center, expected to be fully operational by July, features state-of-the-art testing facilities to support innovation in key areas such as:
- Demulsification
- Corrosion and scale inhibition
- Well stimulation and production enhancement
These facilities ensure that Nouryon’s solutions align with the latest industry standards and customer expectations.
Deepening Regional Partnerships
“The investment underscores our commitment to working side-by-side with customers in the region,” said Christina Pampena, Vice President of Natural Resources at Nouryon. “The new Innovation Center will not only enhance our collaboration capabilities but also accelerate the development of tailored solutions to address the oilfield industry’s unique challenges,” Pampena added.
Building on a Strong Regional Presence
The center builds on Nouryon’s existing infrastructure in Texas. This includes four manufacturing sites in Fort Worth, Pasadena, La Porte, and Houston, as well as its Integrated Services Office, established in 2020.
A Global Innovation Network
Globally, Nouryon operates 14 Innovation Centers, including facilities in Dubai (UAE) and Stenungsund (Sweden) focused on oilfield applications. The centers are designed to drive regional innovation and offer customers hands-on experiences with cutting-edge technologies and sustainable chemistry.
