Oil India Limited (OIL) announced the mechanical completion of the Numaligarh-Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) upgradation project on 12 October 2025. Significant Capacity Enhancement
The upgrade increases the pipeline’s capacity from 1.77 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 5.5 MTPA, significantly improving the transportation of refined petroleum products from the Numaligarh Refinery in Assam to Siliguri, West Bengal. The enhancement will alleviate transportation bottlenecks and boost supply efficiency across India’s northeastern region, supporting regional development and energy reliability.

The NSPL upgradation complements the ongoing Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project (NREP) by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a subsidiary of OIL, which aims to increase refining capacity from 3 MTPA to 9 MTPA.
