ReNew has invested around ₹20,000 crore in Gujarat so far and is continuing to expand its presence across clean energy and advanced manufacturing. The company is also preparing for significant investments across emerging sectors, including data centres, pumped hydro and green hydrogen, as it strengthens its position in India’s growing clean-energy economy.
From Gujarat’s First Project to 20 GW Capacity
Vikram Kapur, Group President – Commercial, Regulatory and New Business at ReNew, highlighted the company’s growth journey. ReNew began operations around 15 years ago, with one of its earliest projects located in Gujarat. The company’s first power project in the state was a 25.2 MW wind farm commissioned at Jasdan. Since then, ReNew has expanded rapidly and has grown into a company with an operational portfolio of around 20,000 MW. “ReNew started 15 years back. Coincidentally, our first project was a 20 MW project in Jasdan. We are now a 20,000 MW company,” Kapur added.
Major Manufacturing Presence in Dholera
Gujarat has remained a key growth market for ReNew. In addition to its renewable energy projects, the company has established two large manufacturing facilities at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), located around 100 km from Ahmedabad. ReNew was also among the early corporates to establish an operational manufacturing facility in Dholera. Currently, the company has around 2.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and approximately 6 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity. The manufacturing expansion supports India’s efforts to strengthen domestic solar equipment production and reduce dependence on imported clean-energy technologies.
₹80,000–₹1 Lakh Crore Investment Planned
ReNew plans to significantly scale up its investments across multiple high-growth sectors. The company is targeting investments of between ₹80,000 crore and ₹1 lakh crore over the next few years. These investments are expected to cover renewable energy, data centres, pumped hydro storage, green hydrogen and other emerging businesses. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, with its growing renewable energy portfolio, solar manufacturing facilities and planned investments in next-generation energy infrastructure, ReNew continues to strengthen its role in India’s energy transition and clean-energy expansion.
