Syensqo, a global leader in high-performance materials, is investing in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at its Panoli site in India. The investment will strengthen the company’s ability to serve customers in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets. Scheduled to become operational by Q1 2028, the new line will double Syensqo’s existing compounding capacity at Panoli. Moreover, it will serve as the first asset in a modular compounding hub designed to provide greater flexibility across the company’s aromatic polymers portfolio.

Flexible Production Across High-Performance Polymers

The compounding line will process a broad range of advanced materials, including Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Amodel® polyphthalamide (PPA) and Ixef® polyarylamide (PARA). This flexible setup will enable Syensqo to adjust production more efficiently as customer requirements and market demand evolve. Consequently, the company will be better positioned to provide customised material solutions while improving supply responsiveness.

Strengthening India’s Automotive Supply Chain

The investment will enhance Syensqo’s supply capabilities in India, supporting both local and global automotive manufacturers and suppliers. At the same time, the company expects the new capacity to address opportunities across other industrial sectors. The investment supports the growing localisation of manufacturing and supply chains in India and aligns with the objectives of the Make in India initiative.

Advanced Polymers for Automotive Applications

Syensqo’s aromatic polymers support demanding automotive applications where high-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical strength and lightweighting are essential. As automotive manufacturers increasingly adopt advanced materials to improve vehicle performance and efficiency, demand for high-performance polymers is expected to grow. Therefore, local compounding capacity can help customers access advanced material solutions with greater speed and flexibility.

Faster Response to Growing Customer Demand

Tom Wood, VP Product and Asset Manager at Syensqo, said India is an important growth market for high-performance polymers, particularly as the automotive sector continues to localise and adopt advanced material solutions. According to Wood, bringing compounding capacity closer to customers will allow Syensqo to respond more quickly and efficiently to changing requirements while providing greater flexibility across its aromatic polymers portfolio.

Expanding Syensqo’s Presence in Asia Pacific

The new compounding line builds on Syensqo’s established manufacturing and Research & Innovation presence in India. In addition, it reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting customer growth across the Asia Pacific region. As per the press release, by expanding local production capabilities, Syensqo aims to strengthen its position in India’s high-performance polymers market while supporting the evolving needs of the automotive and other advanced manufacturing industries.
