Yokogawa Electric Corporation entered into a global agency agreement with US-based CMC Solutions to expand the international availability of CMC’s Predictive Emission Monitoring Systems (PEMS). Under the agreement, Yokogawa will leverage its extensive global service network to market, deploy, and provide lifecycle support for CMC’s PEMS software outside the United States. As a result, the company strengthens its emission monitoring portfolio while enabling industrial customers to meet tightening environmental regulations more efficiently.
Addressing Rising Regulatory and Reporting Demands
Across industries, environmental regulations are becoming more stringent. At the same time, regulators and stakeholders increasingly expect transparent, data-driven emissions reporting. PEMS technology addresses these evolving demands. Instead of relying solely on hardware analyzers, PEMS use process parameters from Distributed Control Systems (DCS)—commonly used to operate plants—and apply advanced algorithms and statistical equations to predict emission levels accurately. Consequently, plants can implement monitoring systems more quickly and cost-effectively.
Advanced Statistical Modelling for Accurate Emissions Prediction
CMC’s PEMS platform uses a proprietary statistical engine to create highly accurate emission models for:
*Gas-fired turbines
*Liquid-fired turbines
*Boilers
Other industrial combustion equipment
The software automatically generates electronic emissions reports in formats accepted by regulatory authorities, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The systems serve industries such as chemicals, petrochemicals, oil & gas, and power generation, where they have demonstrated strong performance, reliability, and operational flexibility.
Expanding Yokogawa’s Emission Monitoring Portfolio
Yokogawa brings decades of experience in hardware-based Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS). With this new partnership, the company will now provide end-to-end services for CMC’s PEMS solutions, including:
*System installation
*Routine accuracy audits
*Revalidation after process changes
Support for both new and existing installations
Furthermore, Yokogawa will offer PEMS to its existing CEMS customer base through a hybrid monitoring model. This approach enables seamless integration between hardware-based monitoring systems and predictive software solutions, ensuring reliable emissions tracking through complementary technologies.
Strategic Partnership
Brian Swanson, President of CMC Solutions, emphasized, “This partnership is unique because of our aligned vision to help customers monitor and minimize pollutant emissions efficiently. CMC’s PEMS technology offers a proven, low total cost of ownership. Our statistical hybrid predictive engine interfaces directly with Yokogawa’s DCS, enabling their global service teams to deploy highly cost-effective monitoring solutions across industries worldwide.”
Yasumasa Ogawa, Vice President and Executive Officer and Head of Yokogawa’s Projects and Services Business Division, added, “We are excited to bring this industry-leading PEMS technology to customers around the world. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability in emission monitoring, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable industrial future.”
Enabling Smarter, Sustainable Industrial Operations
By combining Yokogawa’s global service infrastructure and CEMS expertise with CMC’s advanced predictive analytics platform, the partnership positions both companies to support industries navigating complex environmental compliance requirements. As per the press release, the collaboration delivers a scalable, data-driven, and cost-effective approach to emission monitoring. It helps industrial operators enhance compliance, reduce environmental impact, and drive sustainable performance worldwide.
