The Alkali Manufacturers Association of India (AMAI), the apex body representing the ₹36,000 crore alkali and chloro-vinyl industry, announced new leadership. Aditya A. Shriram, Deputy Managing Director of DCM Shriram Ltd., has been elected as the new President, while Prashant J. Mahale, Senior Executive Vice President of Reliance Industries Ltd., has taken charge as Vice President. The appointments were formalized during AMAI’s 48th Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi.
Championing Growth with Ethics and Sustainability
Aditya Shriram brings with him a strong foundation in engineering and business leadership. An Industrial Engineer from Cornell University and an MBA from London Business School, Aditya has held leadership roles across various businesses within the DCM Shriram Group.
Aditya is a committed advocate of safe, sustainable, and responsible industrial growth. He emphasizes the importance of ethical business practices and the adoption of robust ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards. Under his leadership, AMAI will continue advancing the industry’s transformation and strengthen its role in India’s chemical manufacturing ecosystem.
A Veteran Industry Leader Joins the Helm
Joining him at the helm is Prashant J. Mahale, a seasoned industry leader with over 35 years of experience spanning petroleum downstream, petrochemicals, chlor-alkali, specialty and bulk chemicals, and pulp and paper sectors.
At Reliance Industries, Mahale has successfully led multiple businesses with P&L responsibility, overseen feedstock operations, and driven strategic procurement and commercial contracts. He is a chemical engineer by training and has further enhanced his leadership credentials through executive programs at ISB Hyderabad. He also attended programs at the Darden School of Business (University of Virginia) and XLRI Jamshedpur.
Driving the Backbone of India’s Chemical Industry
AMAI represents producers of caustic soda, chlorine, soda ash, PVC, CPVC, and related products — crucial building blocks of India’s chemical industry. These products are indispensable across a wide array of sectors. Industries use them in aluminium processing, textiles, and chemicals, as well as in soaps, detergents, pulp and paper, glass, and silicates.
