Adani Enterprises Ltd. partnered with French clean technology company Dioxycle to establish low-carbon chemical manufacturing in India. The collaboration will begin with a pilot plant that produces formic acid using captured carbon dioxide (CO₂) and renewable electricity, marking a significant step towards sustainable chemical production. The pilot facility will be set up at an Adani Group site. If the project successfully demonstrates the technology’s commercial viability, the partners plan to scale up production and expand the use of carbon-based green chemicals across multiple industries.
Pilot Plant to Convert Captured CO₂ into Valuable Chemicals
The project aims to showcase how captured carbon emissions can be transformed into high-value industrial chemicals using renewable energy instead of fossil fuels. By combining carbon capture with clean electricity, the initiative seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while creating a sustainable source of essential chemicals. Initially, the facility will focus on manufacturing formic acid, a versatile industrial chemical widely used in textile processing, agriculture, leather manufacturing, chemical processing and industrial cleaning applications.
