Deepak Chem Tech Ties Up with Praxair India for HyCO Facility

Deepak Chem Tech Limited (DCTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, entered into a long-term agreement with Praxair India, a part of Linde plc, to establish a hydrogen and carbon monoxide (HyCO) plant. The facility will supply critical feedstocks for DCTL’s upcoming polycarbonate manufacturing complex at Padariya in Dahej, Gujarat.

On-Site HyCO Facility to Ensure Reliable Feedstock Supply

Praxair India will design, build, own, and operate a dedicated on-site HyCO facility. As a result, DCTL will benefit from a stable, long-term supply of essential raw materials required for polycarbonate production. The on-site model is expected to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring uninterrupted availability of feedstocks—an important factor for large-scale chemical manufacturing.

Leveraging Complementary Strengths

The partnership effectively combines DCTL’s downstream materials expertise with Praxair India’s proven capabilities in industrial gas infrastructure and operations. Consequently, DCTL can focus on its core competencies, while Praxair India manages the complexities of gas production and supply. In addition, the integrated approach is designed to improve reliability, streamline operations, and optimize overall plant performance.

Supporting India’s Growing Polycarbonate Demand

DCTL’s integrated polycarbonate facility is poised to play a key role in boosting domestic production of this high-performance engineering plastic. Polycarbonate is widely used across fast-growing sectors such as automotive, electrical and electronics, construction, and consumer goods. The
long-term supply arrangement has been structured to ensure consistent product quality, scalability, and supply chain resilience as the project progresses.

Leadership Perspective

“The agreement marks an important step in advancing our polycarbonate project,” said Meghav Mehta, ED & CEO of Deepak Chem Tech Limited. “By securing a long-term supply of critical raw materials through a dedicated on-site solution, we are enhancing execution visibility and enabling efficient project delivery. We are pleased to partner with Praxair India, whose global expertise aligns well with our project requirements,” Mehta added.

Project Timeline

The on-site HyCO facility is expected to be commissioned in 2028, in alignment with the startup of DCTL’s polycarbonate plant. As per the press release, the synchronized timeline will help ensure seamless integration and operational readiness.
