Dreamfly Innovations, an Indian deep-tech company specializing in advanced aviation battery technologies, announced plans to establish a 40,000 sq. ft. aviation battery manufacturing facility in North Bengaluru. The facility will have an initial annual production capacity of 100 MWh, which can be expanded to 200 MWh, making it one of India’s largest aviation battery manufacturing facilities dedicated to the drone industry. The investment represents a major step toward strengthening India’s indigenous drone ecosystem while supporting the country’s ambitions to become a global hub for drone manufacturing and advanced aerial mobility.
Large-Scale Facility to Power India’s Drone Industry
The manufacturing facility will produce advanced aviation batteries for a broad range of drone applications, including defense, surveillance, infrastructure inspection, agricultural spraying, logistics and delivery and emerging air mobility platforms such as air taxis. By manufacturing
high-performance aviation batteries domestically, Dreamfly aims to strengthen India’s drone supply chain and reduce dependence on imported battery technologies.
Supporting Indigenous Manufacturing
Dreamfly Innovations currently achieves 77% indigenous content, aligning closely with the objectives of the Kisan Drone Policy and the Government of India’s broader localization initiatives. The company plans to develop advanced battery solutions within the country, enabling Indian drone manufacturers to source critical power systems domestically. As a result, the initiative will reduce import dependence while promoting self-reliance in advanced manufacturing technologies.
Advanced Battery Technology to Improve Drone Performance
Kajal Shah, Co-Founder and CEO of Dreamfly Innovations, emphasized the critical role batteries play in drone performance. She said that a drone’s performance, safety, endurance, and reliability are fundamentally dependent on its battery technology. As India’s drone economy continues to expand, developing domestic expertise in aviation batteries has become increasingly important. According to Shah, the manufacturing facility will enable Dreamfly to produce state-of-the-art batteries in India while supporting domestic drone manufacturers and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Avaana Capital Backs Manufacturing Expansion
Vikas Verma, Partner at Avaana Capital, said the manufacturing facility reinforces Dreamfly’s position as a leading innovator in next-generation battery technologies. He noted that the expansion marks an important milestone in developing India’s advanced aerial mobility ecosystem by reducing import dependence and enabling Indian drone manufacturers to build safer, more reliable, and globally competitive platforms. He also expressed confidence that the investment would strengthen India’s deep-tech manufacturing ecosystem and accelerate the country’s ambition of becoming a global center for drones and future aviation technologies.
Strengthening India’s Deep-Tech Manufacturing Ecosystem
The aviation battery manufacturing facility reflects Dreamfly Innovations’ long-term commitment to advancing India’s deep-tech manufacturing capabilities. By developing indigenous aviation battery technologies at scale, the company aims to support the next phase of growth in India’s drone industry while creating a robust domestic supply chain for advanced aerial systems. As per the press release, the project is expected to enhance India’s technological self-reliance, promote innovation in battery manufacturing, and reinforce the country’s position as a future leader in drone and advanced aviation technologies.
