LANXESS inaugurated a new blending plant at its chemical manufacturing site in Jhagadia. In its first phase, the facility will focus on producing specialty lubricant additives, marking a significant expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint in India. The facility strengthens LANXESS’ position in the lubricant additives segment while reinforcing its commitment to the fast-growing Indian market.
Strategic Hub for Domestic and Global Markets
Designed to cater to both domestic and international demand, the facility will primarily serve customers across India, the Middle East, and other key global markets. Moreover, the plant integrates advanced safety systems, energy-efficient processes, and environmentally responsible practices, aligning with global sustainability standards. As a result, LANXESS aims to ensure reliable supply, faster delivery timelines, and enhanced responsiveness to evolving customer needs.

Highlighting the strategic importance of India, Hubert Fink, Member of the Board of Management at LANXESS AG, stated that India continues to emerge as a key driver of global economic growth. Expanding Lubricant Additives Business
In parallel, LANXESS is scaling up its lubricant additives business in India by aligning global strategy with localized execution. The new plant will play a crucial role in enabling consistent product delivery, accelerating response times, and fostering closer technical collaboration with customers.
Building on this momentum, Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Business Unit Lubricant Additives, highlighted India’s significance as the world’s third-largest lubricants market.
He added that the company had already established an Application Technology Center in 2025, and the commissioning of this plant represents the next milestone in its India growth journey. Importantly, the facility reflects the spirit of the Make in India initiative by adopting a strong “local-for-local” manufacturing approach.
Collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited
LANXESS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Through this collaboration, the company plans to introduce advanced lubricant technologies to the Indian market. Additionally, LANXESS has initiated third-party manufacturing activities for its lubricant additives business unit in India, thereby expanding operational flexibility and production capacity.
