Mevaldi B.V., a Dutch biotech company, secured funding from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and ICIG Ventures. The new investment positions Mevaldi to scale its breakthrough technology for producing bio-based chemical building blocks.

Pioneering Bio-Based Innovation

Mevaldi has developed 3MPD, a bio-based building block designed for high-performance applications in coatings, adhesives, and elastomers. The company manufactures 3MPD from renewable raw materials using its patented hybrid bio-thermocatalytic process—an innovation that combines efficiency with sustainability.

Sustainable Production in Europe

All production of 3MPD takes place in Europe, leveraging ICIG’s existing plant capacities. By doing so, Mevaldi not only reduces its environmental footprint but also contributes to the EU’s broader objectives of building a circular economy and ensuring strategic industrial autonomy.

Scaling Up for Market Expansion

With this funding, Mevaldi will accelerate its transition from pilot to demonstration scale. The company will also concentrate on commercializing its flagship product, Pentonext®, which is set to play a critical role in advancing sustainable polyesters and polyurethanes.

Driving the Green Chemistry Transition

As reported by chemxplore.com, By merging innovation with strategic investment, Mevaldi is strengthening its position in the green chemistry space. The company’s progress highlights how biotech-driven solutions can transform traditional chemical value chains and support a sustainable future.
