Modi Naturals announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Modi Biotech Private Limited, has started commercial operations at its expanded grain-based ethanol plant in Chhattisgarh. The development was disclosed through a regulatory filing and marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in India’s growing ethanol sector. With the expansion now operational, the facility’s production capacity has increased from 130 kilo litres per day (KLPD) to 282 KLPD, enabling the company to significantly scale up its ethanol manufacturing capabilities.
Major Capacity Expansion
The expansion represents a more than two-fold increase in production capacity, making the Chhattisgarh facility one of the key ethanol production units within the company’s portfolio. By enhancing the installed capacity from 130 KLPD to 282 KLPD, Modi Biotech can now produce substantially higher volumes of grain-based ethanol. As a result, the facility is expected to play a larger role in meeting the growing demand for biofuels in India.
Supporting India’s Ethanol Blending Programme
Importantly, the expansion aligns with the Government of India’s Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme, which aims to increase ethanol blending in petrol and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By expanding its ethanol output, Modi Naturals is positioning itself to actively contribute to India’s biofuel and energy security goals. At the same time, the initiative supports the broader national agenda of promoting renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.
Improved Efficiency and Higher Production Volumes
According to the company’s disclosure, the start of commercial operations at the enhanced capacity is expected to improve operational efficiencies and boost overall production volumes. The upgraded facility integrates expanded processing capabilities, allowing Modi Biotech to operate at larger production scales while maintaining consistent quality standards.
Chhattisgarh Facility Becomes Key Production Hub
With the expansion completed, the Chhattisgarh plant now serves as a major production hub for Modi Biotech’s ethanol manufacturing operations. The increased capacity strengthens the company’s supply capabilities and supports its long-term growth strategy in the ethanol and biofuel market. As reported by scanx.trade, the expansion not only reinforces Modi Naturals’ commitment to the ethanol segment but also positions the company to benefit from rising demand for sustainable fuels in India’s energy transition landscape.
