ONGC, BP, and Reliance Ink JOA for Saurashtra Basin Development

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), in partnership with BP Exploration (Alpha) and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), signed a Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) for offshore exploration of Block GS-OSHP-2022/2, awarded under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) Bid Round IX. The signing ceremony took place on 28 July 2025 at ONGC’s Deendayal Urja Bhavan in New Delhi.

Exploring Hydrocarbon Potential in Saurashtra Basin

The block, situated off India’s western coast in the Saurashtra Basin, spans approximately 5,454 square kilometres and falls under Category-II basins. Under the agreement, ONGC will serve as the Operator, leading exploratory activities to assess and develop the hydrocarbon resources of the region.
