Steadfast Ltd., a pharmaceutical and nutraceutical company, has invested over ₹100 crore to establish an integrated manufacturing and research facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The new infrastructure includes an in-house Formulation Research and Development (FR&D) centre, a nutraceutical manufacturing plant and an advanced quality control laboratory. Through this investment, the company aims to strengthen India’s research and nutraceutical manufacturing capabilities, support domestic production and contribute to the country’s self-reliance in the sector.

Addressing Gaps in India’s Nutraceutical Industry

India’s nutraceutical industry is expanding rapidly. However, research, manufacturing and quality control infrastructure remain fragmented across the sector. Many nutraceutical brands depend on multiple third-party partners for formulation development, manufacturing and product testing. Consequently, integrating research, production and advanced quality assessment under one roof remains relatively uncommon. Steadfast’s facility addresses this gap by bringing these critical operations together within a single integrated manufacturing ecosystem.

Manufacturing Capacity Across Multiple Product Formats

The new nutraceutical plant can manufacture dietary supplements in several delivery formats, including tablets, powders, effervescent tablets and capsules.

Its annual production capacity includes:

Tablets: 900 million units

Capsules: 130 million units

Effervescent tablets: 900 million units

Powders: 6,500 tonnes

Furthermore, the facility features advanced automation and holds a licence from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The company has developed the plant in accordance with the World Health Organization’s Good Manufacturing Practices (WHO-GMP) guidelines.

Advanced Quality Control Laboratory with 140 plus Instruments

Alongside manufacturing infrastructure, Steadfast has established an advanced quality control (QC) laboratory equipped with more than 140 sophisticated analytical instruments and related equipment sourced from leading Indian and international manufacturers. The laboratory will conduct extensive testing at different stages of production to verify product purity and quality. Additionally, the QC laboratory is undergoing accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), which operates under the Quality Council of India.

Strengthening India’s Self-Reliance in Nutraceutical Manufacturing

Aman Puri, CEO, Steadfast Ltd., said the company’s investment would strengthen India’s self-reliance in nutraceutical manufacturing. He highlighted that India currently imports more supplements than it manufactures, with imported brands commanding a significant presence in the domestic nutraceutical market. According to Puri, investments in advanced manufacturing infrastructure, scientific research and internationally aligned quality systems will play an increasingly important role in improving consumer confidence. He further emphasised that such initiatives could help position India as a global nutraceutical manufacturing hub.

Supporting India’s Emergence as a Global Nutraceutical Hub

Steadfast’s investment marks a significant step towards expanding India’s domestic nutraceutical manufacturing ecosystem. By integrating formulation research, large-scale production and advanced quality testing, the company aims to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and address evolving industry requirements. As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, the facility could support India’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported supplements while creating opportunities to serve domestic and international markets.
