Suzlon Energy is targeting 10 GW of wind energy business in Karnataka over the next five years. As part of its expansion strategy, the company plans to develop two wind parks in the state, with a combined capacity to accommodate 2.2 GW of wind energy projects over the next two to three years. Dinesh Jagdale, President, Corporate Affairs and Retail Business at Suzlon, announced these plans while participating in a panel discussion on renewable energy opportunities in Karnataka at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit (BRE Summit) 2026.

Suzlon to Develop Two Wind Parks in Karnataka

The proposed wind parks will come up in Vijayapura (Bijapur) and Raichur districts. Together, they will provide infrastructure to support wind energy projects with a combined capacity of 2.2 GW. According to Jagdale, the parks will follow a “plug and play” model, allowing wind developers to focus on project execution while Suzlon takes care of site development and supporting infrastructure. This approach is expected to simplify project development, improve execution efficiency and accelerate wind energy deployment across Karnataka.

Company Plans 2 GW Wind Turbine Blade Manufacturing Facility

In addition to developing wind parks, Suzlon is exploring plans to establish a wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Karnataka. The proposed facility will have the capacity to manufacture blades for wind turbines totalling 2 GW. The new plant will become Suzlon’s 17th blade manufacturing facility. The expansion also reflects the company’s strategy of distributing blade production across multiple locations rather than concentrating manufacturing operations in a few large facilities.

Suzlon Targets 10 GW Wind Energy Business in Five Years

The proposed wind parks and blade manufacturing facility form part of Suzlon’s broader expansion plans in Karnataka. By strengthening project infrastructure and expanding local manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to capture emerging opportunities in the state’s renewable energy sector. These investments could also support faster project execution, strengthen the domestic wind energy supply chain and contribute to Karnataka’s renewable energy development over the coming years.
