thyssenkrupp nucera successfully commissioned a major chlor-alkali plant for Kutch Chemical Industries Limited at Padana, Gujarat, India. The facility has an annual production capacity of 220,000 metric tonnes of caustic soda (NaOH), with an output of up to 675 metric tonnes per day of 100% NaOH. As a result, it ranks among India’s largest single-train chlor-alkali plants. For this project, Kutch Chemical selected thyssenkrupp nucera’s latest BM Generation 6+ technology to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and improve production efficiency. The new facility will support Kutch Chemical’s operations and enhance its ability to serve the domestic market. The company will use the caustic soda and chlorine produced at the plant for its own manufacturing processes as well as supply them to customers across India.
BM Generation 6+ Technology Powers High-Capacity Production
thyssenkrupp nucera provided engineering services, proprietary technology and equipment for the project. The company also supported the facility during start-up and commissioning. The plant features five electrolyzers based on thyssenkrupp nucera’s BM Generation 6+ technology. Each electrolyzer can produce up to 135 metric tonnes per day of 100% NaOH, making it the highest-capacity single electrolyzer currently installed in India. The electrolyzers have successfully started operations, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s domestic chlor-alkali production capacity.
