Wacker Chemie AG (WACKER), a global chemicals and biotechnology company, established a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Pune, India, in collaboration with HCLTech, a global technology company. The new center will strengthen WACKER’s global engineering, IT and digital transformation capabilities. In addition, it will provide a flexible and resilient delivery platform to support the company’s long-term digital initiatives.
GCC to Support Engineering and Digital Transformation
The Pune GCC will focus on WACKER’s engineering, IT and digital transformation programmes. By bringing these capabilities together in India, WACKER aims to build a future-ready operating model that can adapt to changing business and technology requirements. Fabian Seibold, Director, WACKER Excellence Hub Pune, said the new center represents an important step in strengthening the company’s global delivery and digital execution capabilities. He added that HCLTech’s experience in establishing and scaling capability centers will help WACKER develop an operating model focused on agility, governance and long-term growth.
Strategic Partnership with HCLTech
The GCC builds on the existing strategic partnership between WACKER and HCLTech. According to HCLTech, the expanded engagement marks an important milestone in WACKER’s digital transformation journey. Dr. Frank Fehler, Executive Vice President and Country Head – Germany, HCLTech, said the company will support WACKER’s long-term digital and engineering transformation as a technology partner.
Focus on Automation and DevSecOps
HCLTech will establish the Pune GCC through a phased, customer-centric operating model. The company will leverage its expertise in DevSecOps and automation to develop a high-performing technology team and strengthen operational governance. Furthermore, the GCC will focus on improving operational efficiency and accelerating digital modernisation across WACKER’s global operations.
