Coromandel International Plans New Phosphoric and Sulphuric Acid Plants in Andhra Pradesh

Coromandel International’s board has greenlit the establishment of fresh phosphoric and sulphuric acid facilities at its Kakinada fertilizer unit in Andhra Pradesh, entailing an investment of Rs 1,029 crore.

The proposed facilities aim to augment the unit’s capacity by 750 tpd for phosphoric acid and 1,800 tpd for sulphuric acid within a 24-month timeline. Financed through internal accruals/loans, the projects seek to mitigate import reliance and transform Kakinada into an integrated facility, pending regulatory endorsements. This initiative follows the full utilization of the existing 1,550 tpd phosphoric acid and 4,200 tpd sulphuric acid capacities.

Aligned with the agri-input provider’s strategic objectives, the investment underscores Coromandel International’s commitment to securing critical raw materials for fertilizer production. The expansion promises enhanced cost efficiencies, reinforced raw material security, and supports the government’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
