GHCL Ltd to Invest in Gujarat

GHCL Limited has signed two agreements totalling ₹3,450 crore in Gujarat. The specialty chemicals company formalised these agreements during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024. The initial MoU, amounting to ₹2,500 crore, pertains to the Kutch district and is earmarked for the second-phase expansion of the greenfield soda ash plant, in addition to establishing a new vacuum salt plant.

The second MoU, valued at ₹950 crore is focused on Bhavnagar, and will be allocated for the mining of bentonite and sand, both of which are byproducts of lignite mining. As reported by CNBC TV 18, the company has stated that bentonite will serve as a key raw material for various industries such as fertilizers, foundries, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The investment for these projects will be distributed over a span of four years.
