GITAM and CSIR-IICT Forge Alliance for Research

GITAM has signed a deal with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT). The agreement was formalised through an exchange of documents between D Gunasekharan, the registrar of GITAM, and B Jagadeesh, the analytical chair scientist at CSIR-IICT, in the presence of vice-chancellor Dayananda Siddavattam.

Both institutions have committed to fostering faculty exchanges in the fields of science and technology, facilitating short-term visits for joint research projects, and developing collaborative skill development initiatives, such as workshops and training sessions.

Additionally, the collaboration aims to organise invited lectures in core areas of mutual interest, submit project proposals for funding, and enable student visits for internships, training, and research exposure in accordance with the guidelines of host institutions.

As reported by The Hindu, CSIR-IICT, known for its expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, natural products chemistry, lipid science and technology, polymers and functional materials, agro-chemicals, analytical and structural chemistry, among other areas, is one of the oldest national laboratories under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The institute boasts a wealth of scientists with diverse expertise across a wide spectrum of research areas and effective business development strategies.
