Grasim Industries is venturing into the paints business with the launch of ‘Birla Opus Paints’ and the inauguration of three manufacturing plants located in Panipat (Haryana), Ludhiana (Punjab), and Cheyyar (Tamil Nadu). The company had announced its entry into the paints sector three years ago, with an initial investment of ₹5,000 crore, which was later doubled to ₹10,000 crore.
As a flagship entity of the Aditya Birla Group, Grasim Industries holds a prominent position in various sectors, including being a global leader in viscose staple fibre and viscose filament yarn production, as well as the largest chlor-alkali, advanced material, linen yarn, and fabrics manufacturer in India. As reported by Business Standard, the company’s foray into the paints business involves the establishment of six manufacturing plants strategically located across India.
