Hero Future Energies to Unveil New Green Hydrogen Initiatives

Hero Future Energies (HFE), a renewable energy developer, is actively exploring opportunities in green hydrogen projects across India. Srivatsan Iyer, the Global Chief Executive Officer, revealed that the company anticipates announcing developments in this area in the near future.

HFE’s approach to green hydrogen involves two primary strategies. Firstly, it aims to supply green hydrogen for conventional purposes, potentially replacing existing materials or solutions. Secondly, the company is not focusing on developing green hydrogen electrolysers for production.

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, in pursuit of its green hydrogen initiatives, Hero Future Energies has established a partnership with Ohmium International, an electrolyser manufacturer based in Bengaluru. Together, they are working on the development of green hydrogen production facilities with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW. The facilities will be located in India, the UK, and other parts of Europe.

Iyer commented, “Green hydrogen is a focal area of interest for us. We are actively engaging with various customers across India to explore diverse project opportunities. We anticipate making some announcements in the coming months as these discussions progress and materialise into concrete initiatives. We are spending time looking at green hydrogen derivatives as well… What potential that they might have such as green ammonia for example. That space is starting to pick up now both in India, but especially for global markets and there is a lot of interest now among global players to start looking at green chemicals as well and derivatives”.
