Black Bay Acquires Process Technologies and Catalyst Business from Merichem Company

Black Bay Energy Capital acquired the technology business unit of Merichem Company, encompassing Merichem Process Technologies and Merichem Catalyst Products. The newly formed entity, named Merichem Technologies, will operate as a standalone platform, specializing in sulfur treating technologies and solutions globally. Merichem Company will retain its caustic services business, dedicated to handling spent caustic for beneficial reuse.

As a private equity firm with a specific focus on the energy and specialty chemical sectors, Black Bay aims to position Merichem Technologies as a leading provider of innovative solutions. The company’s offerings include renowned technologies such as LO-CAT®, FIBER FILM®, THIOLEX®, MERICAT®, MERICON®, and a suite of proprietary chemical catalysts.

As reported by businesswire, Merichem Technologies will provide comprehensive services ranging from design, engineering, fabrication, and research and development to the implementation of chemical catalysts and mechanical solutions. The solutions are designed to address sulfur and other impurities in various industries and markets, including renewables, gas treating, downstream and midstream sectors, among others.
